In the north-east of England ‘Grand’ means ‘perfect’. My Grandfather always considered this view to be ‘Just grand’.

  4. I’d say your grandfather is correct, that is a grand view. Not all grand views have to be of mountains, canyons, or whatever typically qualifies as “Grand.” A nice peaceful beach like this is just as deserving.

  7. Sometimes grandfathers are very wise. I would like to be there now as it is 33 degrees here now in the southwest desert. Not as bad as some places, I know. but a desert?
